Legal Aid for Washington Fund (LAW Fund) and its Campaign for Equal Justice raise charitable contributions to ensure justice is a reality -- not just for those who can afford it -- but for everyone in Washington state.
LAW Fund and the Campaign for Equal Justice are part of the Alliance for Equal Justice, a collaborative
network of civil legal aid providers and supporters that works together to ensure no one falls through the gaps of our justice system. To learn more about the Alliance for Equal Justice and how members and supporters work together to ensure access to justice for all please visit the Alliance website.
In 2004, LAW Fund and the Endowment for Equal Justice established an administrative merger with the Legal
Foundation of Washington (LFW). Charitable support raised by LAW Fund is disbursed by LFW along with annual Interest on Lawyers/Limited Practice Officers Trust Account (IOLTA) revenues to legal aid programs across Washington. Campaign for Equal Justice proceeds comprise 10% or more of each IOLTA/Campaign for Equal Justice grant to legal aid programs. To learn more about LFW, go to www.legalfoundation.org.
The result of the merger between LAW Fund and LFW means contributions to LAW Fund and the Campaign for Equal Justice support many more legal aid programs than in the past that include staffed, specialty and volunteer attorney programs throughout the state. Secondly, by pooling resources, we’ve created money-saving efficiencies that make funding for statewide legal aid services go further. Simply put, the merger allows more of your support to be directed to what counts the most: the provision of civil legal aid to people who are facing some of the most difficult life circumstances.
L
AW Fund, the Endowment for Equal Justice, and LFW also work closely and are co-housed with the Equal Justice Coalition (EJC), a non-partisan educational outreach effort comprised of a broad-based coalition of community leaders from across the state. Learn more about the EJC’s work at www.ejc.org.
